A HOTEL is opening in Majorca – and men will be banned from it.The new women-only hotel will be located in Porto Cristo and travellers can only stay there if they are female and over the age of 18.The four-star Som Dona Women Only will be run by Spanish hotel chain Som Hotels and will have 39 rooms.The Mediterranean island hotel will be for women who want to feel comfortable and secure in a female-only space.Women are going on more holidays with groups of friends and the hotel has been created to fill a gap in the market.Security is an issue for women in hotels and it is becoming usual to have a woman-only floor.A complete women-only hotel was the obvious next step.The property will have a focus on wellness and self-care.The hotel’s website says it will be “a new space for women who are looking to disconnect from the stress of daily life that offers personalised care tailored to their needs.”It boasts will have "the best healthy cuisine made with ‘zero-kilometre’ products, a wellness area, pool, sky lounge and a unique atmosphere designed for women".Bedrooms have a white and pink colour schemes inspired by “feminine features”, as well as a luxurious-looking outdoor pool and terrace.Som Hotels president Joan Enric Capella said that the hotel is being built after the brand asked its guests to complete surveys, where women revealed they liked the idea of women-only hotel.Capella also revealed that “most” of the hotel workers would be women, too.He said: "We want the most employees possible to be women, of course respecting Spain's parity laws."One of our objectives is also to give a certain visibility to women doing traditionally masculine jobs."Rooms can be booked at the hotel from April next year and cost from €72 Euros / £63 GBP per night per room based on two sharing.
